The classic Russian song “Moscow Nights”, originally written in 1955 by Vasily Solovyov-Sedoi & Mikhail Matusovsky has now been recorded by Matt Stevenson and is available to stream on Youtube.
This is a piece which is very close to my heart, and which I personally feel is one of the greatest songs ever written and recorded. The lyrics, although the English translation is a bit clunky, are beautiful:
“Even whispers aren’t heard in the garden,
Everything has died down till morning.
If you only knew how dear to me
Are these Moscow nights. The river moves, unmoving,
All in silver moonlight.
A song is heard, yet unheard,
In these silent nights…”I hope that you enjoy my instrumental interpretation of this piece – Matt.
